Sunday, October 1, Rev. Gordon Keyler continues with 5-part series in tandem with our weekly Adventures in Faith book study groups: "Adventures in Faith - Daring Greatly". We wear a different color at Sunday Service each of the 5 weeks. Sunday, Oct. 1, the color is BLUE. (Don't worry, if you don't have blue or prefer other colors, come anyway.)
From Rev. Gordon:
Dear Friends,
As we embark on the second week of our Adventures In Faith journey, let us reflect on the profound wisdom of the Buddha: "Live your life like a pair of walking feet. The foot that leads holds no arrogance, while the foot following feels no disgrace, for both understand that their roles will inevitably shift."
The path of spiritual evolution and soul growth is predicated on our willingness to put in the effort. When we dare to confront and address our inner shame, we open the door to transformative change in our lives. It's about embracing vulnerability and engaging in the work required to heal.
In the words of Brene Brown, “We are encouraged to cease our defenses against shame and, instead, welcome it as a catalyst for person empowerment and growth.” This isn’t about clinging to shame or residing within it; it’s about recognizing it for what it is – an opportunity to transcend the burdens of sin, shame, and blame that many of us have carried throughout our lives.
This wisdom echoes the profound teachings of Jesus that have, sadly, been obscured for too many individuals. “You were not born into shame; you were born into blessing.” When we grasp this fundamental truth, we come to realize that the greatest act of daring greatly is the act of loving ourselves and one another as we journey towards authenticity and wholeness.
Namaste’ - Gordon
