From Rev. Gordon Keyler:

Dear Unity Family,

Can you feel it?  Can you feel the Warmth and Light of the season?  Can you feel the awakening of your inner Christ presence?  Whether you can feel it or not, I invite you to our Christmas Eve Candle-lighting service this Sunday at 7:00pm.  I promise you, you will discover the warmth, the light, and the presence of the Christ within and as you.  For the true meaning of "Christ-Mas" is You, your light, your ever-unfolding awareness of your divinity.  Our Christmas Eve ceremony is a beautiful and powerful ritual to help discover the true meaning of Christmas.

Unity interprets the Christmas story through a lens that transcends traditional dogma, inviting a deeper understanding of its universal significance. The birth of Jesus is viewed not merely as a historical event but as a symbolic representation of the awakening of Christ consciousness within every individual. The manger becomes a metaphor for the heart, emphasizing the sacred space within where the divine potential lies dormant, waiting to be realized.

Central to Unity's interpretation is the recognition of the Christ presence not exclusive to Jesus but inherent in all beings. The Christmas narrative serves as a powerful reminder of humanity's innate divinity and the potential for spiritual rebirth. Unity emphasizes the transformative power of love and compassion, encouraging followers to embody these qualities in their lives as a means of nurturing the Christ consciousness within and fostering a more harmonious world.

Furthermore, Unity embraces the idea that the characters in the Christmas story symbolize archetypal qualities within each person. Mary represents the receptive and nurturing aspect of the divine feminine, while Joseph embodies the protective and supportive divine masculine. The journey to Bethlehem becomes a metaphorical pilgrimage inward, a sacred quest for self-discovery and the birthing of higher consciousness. Unity's interpretation of the Christmas story thus becomes a profound spiritual teaching that transcends religious boundaries, inviting all seekers to explore the deeper mysteries of their own divine nature.

I look forward to sharing this Christmas Eve experience with you.  And do not forget we will not have a morning service this Sunday!

Merry Christmas!

Gordon.
